Someday We'll Miss This

As I lay in bed last night trying to fall asleep I kept feeling crumbs in the sheets. No matter how fervently I swept them away, I could still feel them. Maddening. Later when my husband came to bed, he asked in frustration, "Where's my pillows?" Truth be told, I had one of them (making a grand princess total of three for me!) and I remembered his other one had been used earlier in the day for one of the kid's forts. After he finally got situated, lying there in the dark, I heard the inevitable question, "Why are there crumbs in our bed!?" Why indeed. I smiled into the darkness. "Kids. Someday we'll miss this."

Abide In Me

“Abide in me….”

The branch must be attached to the vine for life to flow into it. “By God I am in Christ”
(I have been placed into the vine by God and not of myself) but abiding in Christ is up to me. So then, the question to ask is, HOW do I abide?

Venture Church

VENTURE CHURCH

Let the adVENTURE begin!

The dictionary definition of Venture: An enterprise in which something is risked in the hope of profit. The name Ventures originally came to us in the naming of an evangelism program my husband had written some years back. It was an outline full of adventure and life for a group of people that were motivated to see those in their own relational spheres come to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

There’s A Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On!

Today is The Great California Shake Out, a statewide program to help us all get prepared for the next, ‘big one’.  Schools, business and homes across California will be practicing what to do and how to respond to a major shaking of the earth.

Just this morning I was reading Jesus’ words to his disciples when they asked for more details about his return to earth and the close of the age.  He mentions earthquakes in three of the four gospels. He refers to them as the ‘beginning of the birth pains’.

I pondered that analogy for awhile...

New roads

Woke up to a heavy fog today. (No, I am not referring to my state of mind prior to my morning coffee.) It hung over my town for miles. As I drove my daughter to school we talked about things that we are thankful for. For family, our house, the gift of God’s Son to us.

Thankfulness stirs up joy. Memories of past blessings and reminders of current ones do a lot to add joy to your morning cup.
